Our Approach for Zero Hunger by 2030
WYCF’S flagship approach for achieving Sustainable Rural Education and Nutritional security in rural communities where we work is called the A4SREL project. With supports from the Wegdam Foundation and MAKEIMPACTSL, WYCF work to ensure our A4SREL programs are sustained without us. By integrating our programs with local systems, we transform effective, short-term interventions into long-term solutions. We build local capacity and cultivate community know-how which enables families to flourish and use generated income to enable their children eradicate the causes of hunger and escape the perilous cycle of poverty through Education
The A4SREL Project
The A4SREL Project is designed to address this challenge by integrating sustainable agricultural practices with education and livelihood initiatives. Through this project, families and communities are empowered to produce their own nutritious food, creating a foundation for food security while fostering economic independence. The A4SREL Project is designed to address this challenge by integrating sustainable agricultural practices with education and livelihood initiatives. Through this project, families and communities are empowered to produce their own nutritious food, creating a foundation for food security while fostering economic independence. In many rural communities, children born into families struggling with acute, hidden, or chronic hunger face significant barriers to their well-being and future opportunities. Without access to adequate nutrition, their minds and bodies suffer, limiting their ability to learn, grow, and ultimately break free from the cycle of poverty. By equipping rural households with skills in climate-resilient farming, sustainable food production, and agribusiness development, we not only ensure that children have the nourishment they need to thrive academically but also provide their families with a stable source of income.

A Call to Action:
The A4SREL Project champions the integration of agriculture into rural education systems, ensuring that no child has to learn on an empty stomach. Hunger remains one of the most pressing challenges facing the world today, with its effects disproportionately impacting vulnerable communities, especially in rural areas. 60% of the world’s hungry are women and girls, the majority residing in rural areas where access to food and economic opportunities remains limited.
